Refuse Resist – Socialized

A couple of weeks ago I was over at Club Lido in Revere with Slimedog and JT to check out a very cool show featuring: Agnostic Front, Far From Finished, Refuse Resist, Lenny Lashley’s Gang Of One, Disaster Strikes and Reason To Fight. And what a great show it was (you can check out JT’s review here). Also at the show was Ian from Brass ‘N’ Ammo (link), who along with Punks For a Princess (link), were trying to raise money for a great cause (trying to help out a little deaf girl, Trinity). The charity helps out young kids so please try to look for them at your next show. Slimedog bought a cool t-shirt to add to his collection and I bought an awesome Refuse Resist CD that I’d like to talk about here.

If you haven’t seen Refuse Resist live (band profile:here), do yourself a favor and check them out. They put on an awesome set at Lido and everybody was diggin’ them big time. Generally speaking, these guys rock out with their own very special brand of, what I like to call, “Boston Hardcore” (…so what’s the difference, you ask? Well, of course, Boston Hardcore goes better with beer!). The excitement and energy these guys generate will drive you into a mad frenzy and turn your anxieties into daydreams (…er, yuh).

The CD is called, “Socialized”, and contains no less than 12 killer hardcore tracks. Here are a few of my favorites:

“Middle America” is the first track on the CD. It starts off slow, but picks up steam in a hurry and sets the tone for the entire album. Have a listen, while I go get a beer….

“Socialized” is an awesome tune and arguable my favorite on the album. It’s a straight ahead driving tune with a cool chorus that features a nice buzz saw guitar riff. Crank it …. (chhhit, …glug, glug, glug) ….

“IRS” is a bit of an activity tune. You have a couple of options here. You can either start moshin’ to the awesome energy or find an IRS agent and follow the directions …. Excuse me miss, are you with the IRS?….

“Sunday Matinée” is another awesome tune and JT’s favorite (but honestly, all the tunes on this CD are great). Nice bass to start off. It features a cool slow down bit in the middle with a fun diss’ed guitar riff. Everyone scream after me, “…sunday matinee, oi oi. sunday matinee”….

And last, but certainly not least, it’s, “What Is Right”. I’ll tell you what’s right. The right thing to do is add this great CD to your collection. Nuff said ….

Be sure to check out Refuse Resist when they play near your neighborhood.

Later,
