Thrash N’ Bang Second Anniversary Show
Taxi Driver / Broken Heroes / Cry Havoc! / The Damn Garrison / Hardtime
With Special Guests The Village People and The Spice Girls.
Midway Café, Jamaica Plain, MA 6/8/13

This show was a celebration of our Second Anniversary of our second year of Thrash N Bang. Well, not really; this was just another great show organized by Keith Brooks. Yes, it’s true we’ve been around for two years. But we forgot to set up a show or hijack someone else’s so we decided to do it now. It was a gala celebration with Oi music, disco legends and devouring of many animal parts.

As always we must warn that dual texting is serious business and to please not attempt this while enjoying a show. Save the texting for highway driving, flying a plane or other less important matters.

So sit back, relax, let your senses flow into the exciting rollercoaster ride that will rivet you to your seat while propelling you to the stars and take you on the wild ride of dual texting.

Slimedog- What I’m most excited about today’s show is getting to see Rammstein and The Spice Girls playing together.

Andy- Yes, that will be very exciting. Especially since Scarey Spice now heads up Rammstein.

Slimedog- This being our Second Anniversary show I’ve invited those bands as well as The Village People.

Andy- How sprightly that will be. But I think we may want to rethink the bands since we seldom get enough proceeds to buy bubble gum.

Slimedog- I forgot about that. I haven’t heard from any of the bands so I can only assume they’re coming. Okay the first band is taking the stage, they’re called Hardtime.

Andy- Cool. They have a pretty interesting vibe. Kinda like The Beastie Boys meets Rage Against The Machine meets The Enemy Within. Hey I’m hungry when does the food get here.

Slimedog- Oh, Chad from Taxi Driver just pulled up in a taxi. He is providing hamburgers and hot dogs for all.

Andy- Awesome, who’s up next?

Slimedog- It’s the Damn Garrison from New Hampshire. Speaking of which, Julia who works in an exotic pet store in New Hampshire just showed up as well. She’s brought lizard and iguana meat to grill.

Andy- Nice, I’ve never had iguana meat, but I hear it tastes like chicken. Damn Garrison reminds me of another great band, The Revilers. A bit of that old style Boston punk.

Slimedog- Yeah with the growly vocals and upbeatness, but not hardcore rhythms. I’d say they’re very, “Oi, Oi, Oi!”

Andy- Hey is iguana meat supposed to have bones in it? I think I just broke a tooth.

Slimedog- That’s a squirrel that fell off the roof and got stuck in the grill you’re eating there. Hey, a band we really like but don’t see much is next.

Andy- That’s right it’s those crazy lads from Connecticut- Cry Havoc! A truly, very exciting band.

Slimedog- They have a singer with a near hysterical voice and some progressive elements along with the strong hardcore. Hey, the singer just split his head open with the mike.

Andy- Wow that’s a nasty gash. He also appears to have black stuff under his eyes or maybe he hasn’t slept for a couple of years. At any rate they’re turning in a rousing set. Even the tail of my tasty squirrel is standing on end.

Slimedog- Excellent set. Now it’s time for a band I’ve only seen once before, Broken Heroes from New Jersey.

Andy- What’s that you’re eating?

Slimedog- Not sure but I’m afraid it might be Rocky the Pug (the adorable mascot of the Midway). I hope I’m not eating him. That would make me a cannibal.

Andy- Yah, you’d better spit him out. Broken Heroes is a bit of street punk Oi-ness. Good drinking music.

Slimedog- I think they sound great. This is Oi with a capital O and a capital I. I like their song “We Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” with the rock ‘n ‘roll bass line. Hope they come back soon, I really enjoyed them. OMG! I can’t believe The Village People made it!

Andy- No dude, that’s a real construction worker and a biker. I think they’re a couple. Not sure who the guy with the feathers is.

Slimedog- No, it’s them. They say they can only do one song and split. I’ll record it with my cell phone.

That was great but the next band is more my style.

Andy- Hey you’re right. I think that squirrel is making me hallucinate. I’m hearing “Aces High” by Iron Maiden.

Slimedog- Is that a song by Rammstein?

Andy- No, Iron Maiden. Oh, it’s just Taxi Driver having a bit of fun. Hold on to your pasties here comes some really ruckus hardcore fun.

Slimedog- These guys do a mix of hardcore, metal and Oi and do it well. This is the best I’ve heard them.

Andy- Yes they’re doing a great job. I think Scarey Spice just leapt into the mosh-pit.

Slimedog- Yeah, it’s too bad there’s no time left for them to perform seeing how they flew in from England and all. There’s still lizard meat if they want some. I’m gonna offer my lizard meat to Baby Spice. Turned out to be a great Anniversary Show.

Andy- Yes indeed. I can’t wait for next year’s show. I’ve already contacted Ringo about a possible Beatles reunion.

Slimedog- And maybe the Jimi Hendrix Experience as well! Good job by Keith Brooks again. I just wish the guy could loosen up and have a few drinks.

Andy- I know what you mean, but being a big time promoter for the Midway carries a lot of pressure. After all he has an image to preserve.
